If you have visited the majestic Redwood National Park in northen California, you know what an IMMENSELY POWERFUL EXPERIENCE it is to witness the stately, giant redwoods that have endured over countless centures. When you touch the grooved tree bark and arch back to spy the highest far-away branches, you also get an inkling of the trees' ability to AROUSE DEEP HUMILITY. You may ask yourself, "How do I fit into this landscape? How do I affect it? How do I make a difference?"

For those of us who love chamber music, such an experience may not differ much from our relationship to the musical form. There is something about a great live chamber music performance that REACHES OUT AND INSPIRES, that leaves you feeling incredibly charged with the largeness of life but also touched in a deeply personal way. And perhaps you walk away from the concert asking, "How do I fit into this musical landscape? How can I make a difference?"

We know our actions make a difference, especially to you. With every concert we bring to Orcas Island, we PLAY OUR HEARTS OUT in order to offer you the highest quality chamber music, performed by the best musicians in the world, presented in an intimate, family atmosphere.

Have you ever wondered that if a redwood tree reaches a height of 400 feet after just a thousand years' growth, why don't we ever see 700- or 900-foot-tall trees? It is because nature has its intrinsic limits, and we know we have ours. We don't foresee growing bigger, but rather...

WE WANT THE ROOTS OF OUR FESTIVAL TREE TO GROW DEEPER. By continuing to focus on solid programming, more music education opportunities and partnerships, and bringing chamber music to a wider local island audience, we believe the Festival will remain as strong and secure as a redwood, standing tall in Orcas Island's cultural landscape. Some call this outreach but we see it as finding new ways to reach into this community — and we need your continued participation to do this important work.

The dollars we raise through individual gifts directly fund OICMF’s artistic activities. With six years behind us, we are beginning to focus more on future planning so that we can best preserve what has grown to become such an island tradition. We aim to be wise stewards of your sustained individual support and to provide an inspiring, reflective, engaging — yet solid and financially prudent — festival experience that respects the "community-family" nature of island living.

When you support OICMF, you will enjoy a wide range of valuable benefits that will make your concert-going experience more rewarding than ever. Most importantly, you will gain the satisfaction of knowing that your gift is helping sustain and nurture one of the Pacific Northwest’s most innovative and versatile chamber music festivals.
