Aloysia Friedmann,
Founder and Artistic Director
Ms. Friedmann is a professional violinist, violist, and baroque violinist whose broad-ranging career has included tours in Japan, Europe, South America and the United States, performances with New York's most prestigious musical ensembles, and a special onstage role on Broadway. The New York Times praised her “fiery spirit” after her Carnegie Recital Hall debut. As a regular member of the Orchestra of St. Luke's she has performed classical symphonies in Carnegie Hall and rock'n'roll alongside “Metallica” in Madison Square Garden. She made her Broadway debut as the violinist in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice, which starred Dustin Hoffman. Ms. Friedmann performed with the Soni Ventorum Quintet on the world premiere recording of William O. Smith's “Jazz Set for Violin and Wind Quintet.” Ms. Friedmann is featured as both violist and producer on the CD Classical Music with a View: Islands and Vistas. Ms. Friedmann has been an Affiliate Artist of Viola at the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston and performs regularly with the Houston Grand Opera orchestra. She was also acting concertmaster for HGO’s world premiere performances of Jake Heggie’s The End of the Affair. Trained at The Juilliard School and the University of Washington, Friedmann plays on a Grancino viola made circa 1675. |

Jon Kimura Parker, Artistic Advisor
Mr. Parker is one of the world's leading classical pianists, playing as many as 100 concerts annually everywhere from New York's Carnegie Hall to London, Tokyo, Frankfurt and Tasmania. He has given two command performances for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, has recorded as guest soloist with Andre Previn, jammed in an impromptu concert with Doc Severinsen and the original Tonight Show Orchestra, and was a celebrity guest on the children's television program Under the Umbrella Tree on the Disney Channel. In November 1996 Jon Kimura Parker received the Governor General's Arts Award, the most prestigious arts award in Canada. Gold Medal winner at the 1984 Leeds International Piano Competition, he was also awarded his country's highest honor for lifetime achievement, the Order of Canada. A committed educator, Mr. Parker joined the faculty of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston in 2000. He studied in his native Vancouver BC with Edward Parker, Keiko Parker, and Lee Kum-Sing, and with Adele Marcus at The Juilliard School. |

Victoria Parker, Executive Director
Orcas Island Chamber Music Executive Director, Victoria Parker, trained as an information and management professional, received her BA in English Literature and Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Washington. She has focused her career on the development of agency partnerships and resource sharing through innovative programming and strategic long range planning unique to education communities and nonprofit organizations. Ms. Parker is an award-winning catalyst, acknowledged in her field for the establishment of partnerships that provide life long learning offerings for adults and children. Serving on and working for regional and state-wide management teams, policy boards, and action committees, Victoria has gained a reputation for dynamic camaraderie, leadership and governance. Reference and information referral, community and media relations, capital and project campaigns based on public service and education development, plus volunteer recruitment and training, are blended in a 30-year career. |

Joyce Stone, Festival Office and Marketing Manager
Joyce Stone, Festival Office and Marketing Manager, brings a career in television marketing to the Chamber Music Festival. An award-winning writer and producer of news and entertainment promotion, public service campaigns, sales presentations and fundraising videos, for 25 years she has worked at network affiliate TV stations in Kansas City, Chicago and KING-TV in Seattle. A Chicago area native, she also was a writer/producer for a large retail corporation, creating national TV and radio commercials. Joyce received her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas. Prior to moving to Orcas Island, Joyce worked as Office Manager for a non-profit association in the Seattle area, where she provided leadership in improving community relations and communication techniques. Her broad background includes computer and bookkeeping skills, in addition to writing, fundraising, promotion and public relations. |
